This sculptural pendant depicts an artistic interpretation of Dökkálfr, the Dark Elf of Norse mythology, framed by an elaborate circular composition of intertwined serpentine creatures inspired by the Urnes style of Viking art.
The central figure features a stern masculine face and flowing hair, sculpted in detailed relief. Slender zoomorphic forms intertwine around the portrait, creating a balanced composition that combines Norse mythology with the elegant curves and intricate interlacing characteristic of Nordic ornament.
An integrated bail decorated with interwoven Nordic knotwork completes the design and provides a cohesive transition between the pendant and the chain.
The model features an open-back hollow construction without a rear wall, reducing material usage while retaining the sculptural front relief. The wall thickness is 1.3 mm.
